Scottie Scheffler will have yet another chance to make a bit of golf history this week, as he can become the first golfer to go back-to-back-to-back at the Hero World Challenge. After winning the previous two Bahamas events by a combined nine(!) strokes, Scheffler is the heavy favorite of the 20-player field to win the Tiger Woods-hosted event once again.
Of course, the Albany tournament attracts the best the sport has to offer. Scheffler will be teeing off against recent U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun, fellow top-10 pros like Robert MacIntyre and Harris English, plus upper-echelon talent such as Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose and Sepp Straka. When your tournament invites are Jordan Spieth, Akshay Bhatia and Billy Horschel, you know you’re in for some good golf.
Scheffler tied the tournament scoring record last year with a 25-under 263 total, besting runner-up Tom Kim by six shots. That helped allow him to become the first golfer since Tiger Woods to spend an entire calendar year ranked No. 1 in the world. (By the way, he’s done that again here in 2025.)
This week’s winner will receive a $1 million cut of the $5 million purse. No FedEx Cup points will be handed out, but World Ranking points are awarded.
Golf Channel will carry live coverage on Thursday and Friday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Golf Channel will carry early coverage from 12 noon-2:30 p.m., and NBC will finish the day from 2:30-5 p.m. On Sunday, Golf Channel will start things off from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and NBC will air the end of the event from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
