nother week, another bizarre Charley Hull injury.
This is becoming a thing. The British star’s latest incident involves tripping in the Centurion Club parking lot and injuring her ankle as she prepared for this week’s PIF London Championship at Centurion Club.
It sounds like it made for quite the dramatic scene.

“Coming out of the locker room, I had a skip in my step because I love practicing. But then I fell over a curb in the car park and was lying on the floor shouting for my boyfriend to come get me,” Hull said. “The security guard was watching me, and I heard my ankle pop. I thought I broke it. Someone picked me up and put me in the car. I went down so quickly, I nearly fainted. I was not sure if I was overreacting. I started moving my ankle and it’s nowhere near as bad as I thought. I will get an MRI today. I’m gutted I couldn’t practice yesterday and took Monday and Tuesday off.”
Later, following that MRI, she announced that she withdrew from the event per doctor orders.
“I’m devastated not to be competing in front of a home crowd,” she said. “However, I’m really looking forward to supporting the event and spending time with fans this week.”
Last month, Hull collapsed twice during her opening round in the Amundi Evian Championship, and she had to be carted off the course. She had a virus and was OK, although it was quite scary. She returned to play in the Scottish Open, then tweaked her back putting a box in a car before the AIG Women’s British Open.
All of these injuries have made it so she can’t do those crazy workout routines that often go viral on social media.
“I’ve been off for six weeks now. It’s been annoying,” Hull said. “I was about to get back into it this week, then I rolled my ankle yesterday in the car park. I have an MRI coming up soon, but I probably won’t be able to train for another three weeks. There’s always something.”
Perhaps rest isn’t a bad thing for World No. 10 Hull, who has been on a breakneck pace.
“All good. I took Tuesday off because I was absolutely knackered, had so much adrenaline coming in, and the wind is tiring,” said Hull, who on Monday was named to the world team that will be competing in the International Crown event later this fall.
Perhaps someone should put Hull in bubble wrap. At least she can have a good laugh at her own expense.
“Thomas Bjorn was watching me on the floor and said every time he sees me, I’m lying down somewhere,” Hull said. “I don’t do it on purpose. I’m naturally clumsy. My sister is the clumsiest person I know, and I used to make fun of her for it. I fell over in the middle of the road about two years ago. It runs in my dad’s genes.”
The PIF London Championship is the third event on the PIF Global Series this year. Hull tied for second place last week at the Women’s British Open, shooting a final-round 69 but made bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes to finish two shots behind Miyu Yamashita.
