FedEx Cup Playoffs tracker: Rickie Fowler survives, Jordan Spieth comes up short of top 50

The final round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis has decided who’s moving on and who’s season has ended.

Only the top 50 in the FedEx Cup Standings will advance to the second of three legs of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship, which takes place next week in Maryland. The St. Jude started with 70 eligible golfers (but only 69 played due to Rory McIlroy electing not to play) and now there are 20 names removed from playoff participation.

Final group is on 18th hole, top 50 almost finalized

With Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood now playing the 18th hole, the top 50 for the second leg of the 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs is just about set.

Rickie Fowler appears to be safe at No. 48. Jhonattan Vegas is No. 49 after starting the week 46th and J.T. Poston is clinging to the 50th and final spot for the BMW Championship.

Chris Kirk is like to be singing “Heartbreak Hotel” if he stays in the 51st spot. Rookie Aldrich Potgieter in 52nd will come up two spots of advancing. Jordan Spieth (down to 54th from 48th) has seen his 2025 season come to a close.

Rickie Fowler keeps flirting with the top-50 cutoff

With two holes to go, Fowler is 1 under on his day and T7 overall and 48th in the FedEx Cup Playoffs race.

He’s started the week 64th, but moved inside the top 50 and has stayed there most of the week but on Sunday alone, there’s been a handful of times he moved outside and then back inside that cutoff.

Time is running out for some golfers who started the week inside top 50

Aldrich Potgieter (43 to 51), Jake Knapp (47 to 55), Wyndham Clark (49 to 56) and Min Woo Lee (50 to 57) appear to be the group of golfers who will slip out of the top 50 for next week’s BMW Championship.

On the flip side, J.T. Poston (51 to 50), Bud Cauley (53 to 46), Kurt Kitayama (52 to 37) and Rickie Fowler (64 to 48) are the four who are making the most of their week in Memphis.

Rickie Fowler has slipped outside the top 50 in FedEx

Fowler started the week 64th but climbed inside the top 50 and spent most of the week in Memphis there. While he’s still inside the top 10 on the tournament leaderboard, he has slipped to No. 51 in the standings with six holes left on Sunday.

Several golfers have climbed inside the top 50… but there’s a lot of golf left

The top 50 is the magic number and there’s six golfers who have climbed inside that threshold:

  • Kurt Kitayama, No. 52 to No. 45
  • Bud Cauley, No. 53 to No. 47
  • J.T. Poston, No. 51 to No. 48
  • Jhonattan Vegas, No. 56 to No. 49
  • Chris Kirk, No. 61 to No. 50

These standings are as of 3:56 p.m. ET so keep in mind there’s a lot of golf left and these standings are fluid.

FedEx St. Jude defending champ finishes strong

Hideki Matsuyama closed with his best round of the week, a 5-under 65 and he’s tied for 15th. He won’t repeat but does have the best final round so far on this Sunday. But, that said, he’s down three spots in the playoff standings to No. 24.

Is Jordan Spieth going to advance to the BMW?

Spieth shot a final-round 68 on Sunday and is tied for 39th but more critically for his future is that he’s slipped to 52nd in the standings. He entered the week near the bubble at 48th but he’s made the next few hours precarious.

Jordan Spieth watches an approach shot on the 10th hole during the third round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind.

Final group tees off for final round in Memphis

Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose are on the course to start their final round. As he tees off, Rose is is up 17 spots from No. 25 to No. 7. Fleetwood is up seven spots to No. 2.
