After ripping ‘keyboard warriors,’ Danielle Collins to shut down year after US Open

Danielle Collins’ 2025 season will soon come to an end as the three-time WTA champion took to social media to reveal that she won’t play beyond the US Open.

During this year’s North American hard-court swing, the American tennis player played a full schedule and appeared in Washington, Montreal, and Cincinnati. However, the 31-year-old hasn’t had much success on hard courts this summer, posting only a 1-3 record across her three tournaments played.

After ripping 'keyboard warriors,' Danielle Collins to shut down year after US Open

In Cincinnati, Collins – who has plummeted to No. 57 in the world – lost 4-6 6-7 (2) to Taylor Townsend in the first round. Late in the match, the American yelled, “Why is this happening to me?” Later, it was revealed that she was dealing with a back injury.

“On the mend. New York soon for my last event of the year,” the former world No. 7 announced on Instagram.

Collins addressed her injury and hit back at her critics

After the video of Collins shouting in Cincinnati went viral, the 2024 Miami Open champion took to Instagram to clarify what happened. The 31-year-old revealed that her disc was herniated, before adding a couple of strong words to “keyboard warriors.”

“Anyone who has a herniated disc knows my pain. It’s no surprise the keyboard warriors can’t understand or relate, as they’ve been too busy sitting on a**es judging people who show up and and try to give it their best even on days that suck. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for my injury and thank you to Taylor Townsend for being the best of the best,” the American wrote on her Instagram Story a week ago.

Overall, it hasn’t been an easy season for Collins, who is just 15-13 and far from her 2024 form, when she won her first WTA 1000 title in Miami and returned to the top-10.
