Becker: Medvedev Needs Professional Help

NEW YORK—Daniil Medvedev’s meltdown on Monday night at the US Open has prompted concern from Boris Becker.

Former No. 1 Becker said seeing Medvedev collapse in his five-set loss to Benjamin Bonzi makes him believe the former US Open champion needs counseling.

“We call this “public meltdown “ … I think he needs professional help ?!?” Becker posted on X alongside video of Medvedev smashing his racquets.

ESPN analyst Brad Gilbert, who previously coached Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and Coco Gauff, concurred with Becker. Gilbert replied: “Unfortunately his brain is getting the better of him after losing these close matches the lat few months, I agree, he definitely needs some help.”
