Daniil Medvedev fined $42,500 for US Open meltdown. Is that enough?

Daniil Medvedev’s frustrating US Open campaign ended not only with a surprising first-round loss to Benjamin Bonzi but also with a heavy fine. The Russian was penalized $42,500 for his behavior during a five-setter def

The fine takes away 38,6% of his $110,000 first round prize money. It will hardly be a problem for the former champion, who left the Australian Open with even less money this January following another outburst.

The fine was split into two parts: $30,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and additional $12,500 for racket and equipment abuse once the match ended. As many times before, Daniil could not endure a tricky moment.

Daniil Medvedev fined $42,500 for US Open meltdown. Is that enough?

His temper boiled over as he struggled to find the rhythm against Bonzi, standing on the verge of defeat in the tenth game of the third set and already showing signs of frustration and obscene acts.

Benjamin had a match point at 5-4 in the third set when a photographer mistakenly wandered onto the court. The umpire Greg Allesworth sent him out and gave the Frenchman the first serve.

The decision caused mayhem and Daniil’s explosive reaction that caused a six-minute delay, as the Russian confronted the umpire and incited fans to boo loudly.

To make things even more interesting, Medvedev gained fuel from the incident and pulled the break back. He clinched the set in the tie break and stormed over his shaken opponent to force a tie break.

However, Bonzi regained his confidence and bounced back from a break down in the final set to emerge at the top and earn a massive victory. Like he did not caused enough trouble, Daniil repeatedly smashed his racket after the loss.

The Russian has often walked the fine line between composure and volatility. This episode stands out as a costly reminder of how quickly emotions can spill over in the heat of competition, especially when things do not work our way.

Thus, Daniil ended his 2025 journey with another fine, scoring only one victory on the most notable scene throughout the year! Medvedev leaves New York lighter in his ranking and in his wallet.

However, this fine will not stop him form repeating something similar in the future.

Cardi B’s Civil Trial Sparks Global Buzz After Savage Courtroom Clapback

Cardi B is no stranger to headlines — but this time, it’s not about music, fashion, or throwing microphones. Instead, the Grammy-winning rapper (real name: Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) is at the center of a fiery civil lawsuit that has unexpectedly turned into a viral internet spectacle.

The case was filed by Emani Ellis, a former security guard who once worked at a Beverly Hills building that housed an OB-GYN clinic. According to Ellis, Cardi B allegedly clawed her face with long nails, spat on her, and hurled insults during an altercation in 2018 — all while Cardi was four months pregnant. In 2020, Ellis sued the rapper for assault, emotional distress, and even “false imprisonment,” demanding a jaw-dropping $24 million in damages.

Cardi B Appears in Court for Civil Trial, Accused of Physical and Verbal Abuse

Cardi B, however, isn’t letting the accusations slide. During the ongoing trial in Alhambra, she admitted there was a heated argument and some “chest-to-chest” confrontation — but firmly denied ever laying hands (or nails) on Ellis, stressing that she was pregnant at the time and in no condition to be fighting.

Still, what really lit up social media wasn’t the legal jargon — it was that courtroom exchange.

When Ellis’ lawyer asked if Cardi had called the plaintiff “fat,” the rapper didn’t flinch. Instead, she shot back coolly:
“No, I called her a hoe.”

The entire courtroom reportedly erupted, and the internet followed suit. The clip spread like wildfire, with fans divided: some called Cardi brutally honest (and hilarious), while others worried her bluntness could backfire in front of the judge.

Meanwhile, witnesses appear to back Cardi’s side. Receptionist Tierra Malcolm testified that Ellis was the aggressor, even scratching Malcolm’s forehead while lunging toward Cardi. On top of that, Cardi’s doctor at the clinic confirmed Ellis showed no visible injuries at the time — throwing further doubt on the allegations.

As if that weren’t enough, Cardi has been clapping back online too, labeling the accusations as straight-up lies and accusing Ellis of chasing clout off her fame.

Between her bold courtroom one-liners, her unapologetic confidence, and the circus-like reactions online, Cardi B has once again turned a serious scandal into viral entertainment.

But with $24 million on the line and her public image at stake, the final verdict could be no laughing matter — even if Cardi is making everyone else laugh along the way.
