Denis Shapovalov ties the knot to fellow tennis pro, Victoria Mboko graces magazine cover and Daria Saville to become a mother

In our Daily Dose of Social Media, we take a look back at the best Entertainment from the last day including some of the moments you might’ve missed from the top stars in tennis.

On Friday, we have seen Denis Shapovalov tie the knot with fellow tennis pro Mirjam Bjorklund. Daria Saville will become a mother and Victoria Mboko has graced the cover of Rolling Stone Africa.

Shapovalov and Bjorklund tie the knot

Game, set and match to this tennis couple who tied the knot on Friday in Greece. Denis Shapovalov and Mirjam Bjorklund have been together since 2019 and got engaged in 2023.

They got married in Greece in front of 30 family and friends picking a picturesque location which they shared on their social media. They had a choreographed first dance routine taken from the movie The Wedding Ringer with Bjorklund doing a backflip.

They first met back at the Stockholm Open in 2019 after Shapovalov recognised her from a magazine. He spoke with her sister and she said she was single and they began talking. After an injury, she flew to London and their relationship blossomed from there. They got engaged in 2023 on a beach in Bastad with Shapovalov carrying the ring around for six months. Her family were also hiding in the bushes near by so definitely a military grade operation.

“It was truly as amazing as we envisioned when we chose Lesante Cape for our wedding venue,” Bjorklund told PEOPLE. “The weather was incredible and every moment was picture-perfect. It was the most beautiful start to our marriage and we are so excited to spend forever with each other.”

“It was really so special. Every day we had in Zakynthos with our close friends and family was better than we could have ever asked for and I’m so excited I got to marry my best friend in such an incredible setting,” Shapovalov agreed.

He added further to Vogue Scandinavia. “I thought I would be nervous during these moments, but instead I couldn’t hide the smile on my face. Mirjam came out looking absolutely gorgeous in her dress. It’s the most joy I’ve ever felt in my life.”

“We did have an unexpected honorary sixth groomsman,” Shapovalov said referring to their beloved dog Yatzy. “One of our guests showed up in the exact same J. Lindeberg suit.”

Mboko graces cover of Rolling Stone Africa

Victoria Mboko graced the cover of Rolling Stone Africa as she opens up her foray into the glamour side of tennis after her incredible Canadian Open win. Why Rolling Stone Africa you may ask? She was born into a family that left the Democratic Republic of Congo in search of opportunity and for Mboko that opportunity came on the tennis court as she is now blazing an incredible trail with a lot more to come.

“There are so many milestones I hope to achieve. Winning a Grand Slam or becoming world number one would always be a huge blessing, but I know there’s a process to reaching those goals, and sometimes you never know how early opportunities might come. Every day, I focus on improving, both on and off the court. Ultimately, I think it’s important to dream big, and hopefully one day winning a Grand Slam will be part of that journey,” said Mboko to Rolling Stone Africa.

“It’s hard to imagine looking back at my career since it’s only just beginning, but I hope to make a meaningful impact on the sport. It would be incredibly heartwarming to feel that my story, or where I come from, could help change the sport in some way. I want to inspire the next generation of tennis players, whether in Canada or even in Africa, and be a role model for young girls or kids who might not believe they have a chance. If I can have that kind of impact on others, that’s the legacy I would love to leave.”

Saville set to become a mother

Daria Saville is set to become a mother next year. 9 months after freezing her eggs, she has finally got her wish of becoming a mother.

“Baby due March 26.” Daria captioned the post with “We love you so much already Pisces like mummy.” This in a video also including their dog Tofu and of course Luke Saville, her husband.

Casey Dellacqua was among those to post congratulations. “Now this is the news I needed to hear today 😍😍😍😍 congratulations ❤️❤️❤️ best news ever!!! I’m so bloody happy for you both xxxxxx,” she wrote.

Ons Jabeur, Eva Lys, Daria Kasatkina and Katie Boulter also got in on the party as did Jasmine Paolini and Caroline Garcia. A player certainly loved by the tennis community.

Sabalenka shares Behind the Scenes look

Aryna Sabalenka won’t return until the Wuhan Open in the coming weeks but she got her YouTube channel firmly in the spotlight again.

Plugging her latest vlog on the platform, Sabalenka shared behind the scenes pictures including with fellow US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz on her Instagram page.

She is out of the China Open next week with a minor injury but she will return for the run-in in the coming weeks at the Wuhan Open. A place where she has had great success in the past.

Zheng Qinwen visits Great Wall of China for first time

Perhaps surprising but also not. Zheng Qinwen visited the Great Wall of China for the first time. She didn’t play in Shenzhen this week at the BIllie Jean King Cup.

But she is bak home in time for the next few weeks. She has had elbow surgery after an injury that held her back all season and she now is ready to return. Albeit the comments on her latest post were shocked that she has never visited the main tourist site of China.

But Zheng Qinwen did move to Europe fairly early on in her tennis career so has not been based back at home for a number of years so is ticking off this sort of stuff while she is back at home. Can she harness the power of being back in China for a good few weeks?
