Pegula recalls funny incident: The cleaning lady came in while I was in the shower
Jessica Pegula is known as a funny tennis player who often brings interesting stories about her career and funny situations. The American tennis player once again encountered an interesting situation while performing in China, representing the United States at the Billie Jean King Cup

Their team failed to overcome the last obstacle, losing to Italy in the final. However, Pegula had many interesting experiences in China, and one remained deeply etched in her memory.

The popular tennis player was in the shower at a hotel, when at one point she heard that the cleaning lady had entered her room. Pegula was somewhat shocked, but soon realized what was going on.

“I’m in China right now for the Billie Jean King Cup. And I’ve been playing this game with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ on whether I know if it’s working or not. I don’t know how to explain it, but the button doesn’t light up, right? So then I thought I had it on. It said it was on, but then the cleaning lady came in while I was in the shower. I was like, ‘Oh my god,'”– she said, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Interesting experience

The cleaner did not speak English and did not understand that Pegula did not want the room to be cleaned at that moment.

They had some problems understanding each other later, mainly because the cleaner did not speak English, but in the end they managed to find a common language and resolve the situation.

This was certainly an interesting experience for Pegula, who showed at this tournament that she is a world-class player and belongs at the very top of the tennis scene.

“Obviously, she doesn’t speak English. And she didn’t understand that I didn’t want any cleaning at this moment. Then we just sat there and kind of miscommunicated for five minutes, and I was like, ‘No,’ pointing to the sign, and it was lit up. [She] still didn’t get it. And then she gave me two waters. I feel like that’s happened to everybody, but that was kind of my unforced error for the week.”- she concluded.
