Jordan Spieth has played some memorable rounds in his time on the PGA Tour, but he thinks Bryson DeChambeau once usurped anything he has ever done on the golf course.

Spieth‘s low score on the PGA Tour is a 62 – shot twice in the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson and at the 2021 Northern Trust.

However, DeChambeau comfortably beat that score back in the day, when he was a PGA Tour player.

Spieth recently admitted he’s a huge fan of DeChambeau, due to the LIV star’s explosive power and exciting approach to the game.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see the two golfers play with each other outside of the major championships anymore.

DeChambeau now plays on LIV, while Spieth chose to remain on the PGA Tour.

But when they were both playing on the same tour, Spieth witnessed DeChambeau do something truly extraordinary.

Spieth played with DeChambeau when the 2024 US Open champion was still a PGA Tour member four years ago.

And the LIV golfer’s round that day back in 2021 continues to live long in the memory of the three-time major champion.

Spieth played alongside Cameron Young when he fired a 59 at the Travelers Championship and he was in the same group as Justin Thomas when he shot his 59 at the Sony Open in 2017.

However, Spieth thinks another round of golf that he witnessed eclipses both of those.

“I would say Bryson that day because it was a par 72 (BMW Championship round two in 2021),” Spieth replied when asked what was the best round of golf he’s ever witnessed. “That might be the answer on those three rounds.“

In spite of that, Spieth did admit that Thomas deserves his flowers for making ‘the most clutch’ putt in order to shoot 59 in Hawaii.

He said: “I remember thinking both Cam and Justin were right in it at the beginning. There’s definitely an argument for JT because he knew he needed eagle [on the final hole] and made a 15-foot slider. That’s a little bit different. That was the most clutch of the three.”

DeChambeau flew out of the blocks at Caves Valley four years ago.

He was five-under par after just five holes of his second round, with three birdies, an eagle and a par to his name.

The 32-year-old slowed down somewhat with two birdies in his next five holes but he was still seven-under par after 10 when the fireworks really began.

DeChambeau then made three birdies and another eagle in his next six holes to get to 12-under par after 16.

However, the LIV Golf star was unable to capitalize over his final two holes, parring both after missing a six-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to shoot 59.

DeChambeau lost in a playoff against Patrick Cantlay in the end, to miss out on winning the BMW Championship in 2021.

However, DeChambeau’s second round that week will always be remembered, as Jordan Spieth proved when naming the greatest round of golf he has ever seen.
