JJ Watt makes his feelings known as Lamar Jackson wants ping pong tables taken away from Ravens’ locker room

Former Texans defensive end J.J. Watts and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson

Former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt has reacted to Lamar Jackson’s revelation about removing ping pong tables and games from the Ravens’ locker room. Jackson revealed his role in the ping pong table removal earlier this week following the Ravens’ victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The quarterback claimed credit for getting the team’s head equipment manager, Kenico Hines, to remove the ping pong table and games. He did this when the team was in the middle of a four-game losing streak as a way of showing its commitment to getting better.

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee show on Wednesday, Watt commented on the quarterback’s actions. He said:

“I was kind of that way, and I understand that there’s times in my career as a leader where I probably took that a little too far. You have to understand different motivations, or the way guys are led, and things like that, and have a good pulse on the locker room.”

The former Houston Texans player continued:

“I’ve also seen it go completely the other way, where you take that stuff out and then you lose, and everybody’s like, ‘Oh, was it the ping pong table? Was that why we lost? Like, they’re gone now.’ But personally, I’m one of those guys where I’m like, when it’s time to focus, let’s focus. When it’s time to have fun, let’s have fun.”

The Ravens’ victory against the Bears after losing four straight games may be an indication that Lamar Jackson’s approach is working.

Stephen A. Smith hypes up Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

Analyst Stephen A. Smith is one of the latest to jump on the Lamar Jackson train. The ESPN star threw his full support behind the Ravens quarterback in a recent episode of First Take, where he said:

“This is Lamar Jackson that we’re talking about here. When he’s healthy, arguably the most electrifying quarterback in the National Football League, clearly one of the greatest. We all know what he brings to the table.”

Smith went ahead to suggest the Ravens will win their run of games against their division rivals, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. He said:

“It’s a prime opportunity for the Baltimore Ravens to take advantage of this opportunity. Lamar Jackson is coming back. The division is still there to be had.”
