With no PGA Tour event on the schedule last week, the eyes of many in the golf world were locked in on the Internet Invitational. Unfortunately for YouTuber Luke Kwon, that meant extra attention was paid to what will probably go down as the lowest moment of his internet career.
As you’ve probably heard by now, Kwon overslept his tee time, an egregious offense in a team event that features a prize pool well over $1 million. Even worse, he didn’t seem to care all that much, which understandably riled up folks enough on social media that Kwon posted an 18-minute (!!) long apology on his own YouTube page over the weekend.

The Seinfeld-episode-length apology would make you assume Kwon was genuinely sorry for his actions, but as Twitter/X user Johhny V Golf dissected in a long thread, Kwon spent most of the time attempting to deflect blame and plead ignorance. After reading through much of what he said, it feels like he would have been better off just letting the story die.
This was just the latest in a number of false moves Kwon made both during filming and after, and we discussed them all on this week’s episode of The Loop podcast. We also reached out to Kwon to hear his side of the story, but he declined to join us. We were joined by Jason Day superfan RJ Parker, who went viral for a hilarious fitness-related reason a few weeks ago at the Bank of Utah Championship. Please, have a listen to the full episode below:
