The World Wide Technology Championship is the PGA Tour’s next stop, and the tournament will take place at the El Cardonal Golf Course in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, from November 6 to 9, 2025. The tournament purse is $6 million, which is $1.2 million less than last year’s purse.

This year, the tournament’s defending champion, Austin Eckroat, is returning to the event. However, several big names will miss out on the field. Here’s a list of five big golfers missing out at the World Wide Technology Championship:

Rory McIlroy is a big name missing out on the World Wide Technology Championship. The golfer won three PGA Tour tournaments in the 2025 season, including the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the PLAYERS Championship, and the Masters Tournament, at 21 under, 12 under, and 11 under, respectively. On the DP World Tour circuit, he won the Amgen Irish Open after scoring 17 under. The Northern Irishman also helped his Ryder Cup team to win the biennial tournament for Europe in 2025.

2) Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler last played at the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship, where the golfer tied in third place along with Joel Dahmen. This year, the World No. 1 will miss the tournament, and he last played at the Ryder Cup, where the Americans lost the tournament. His last triumph came at the Procore Championship.

3) Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is in form, and he won the Baycurrent Classic last month after scoring 19 under. Apart from that, he had three other top 10 finishes, including a T8 at the Masters Tournament, a T8 at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a T7 at the Open after scoring 5 under, 9 under, and 10 under, respectively.

4) Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood had two victories in the 2025 season, including the TOUR Championship and the DP World India Championship, after scoring 18 under and 22 under, respectively. Apart from these, he had seven other top 19 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a T2 at the Travelers Championship, a T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and a T5 at The Genesis Invitational.

5) Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa last played at the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship, where he landed with a T15 after scoring 15 under. Morikawa last played at the Baycurrent Classic, where he finished at T14 after scoring 10 under. He had four top 10 finishes in the 2025 PGA Tour season, including the Sentry with a second-place finish, the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a second-place finish, and the Rocket Classic with a T8 after scoring 32 under, 10 under, and 19 under, respectively.
