WWE Just BURIED Drew McIntyre!

LIV golfer Graeme McDowell called out the media for misquoting his take on the division of golf. The Northern Irish golfer competed at the Link Hong Kong event last week but struggled to make the cut.

Following the event, in an exclusive interview with Bunkered.co.uk, he talked about Ryder Cup captaincy and also reflected on his opinion on the “divisiveness” in golf. His quote was shared by NUCLR Golf on its X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:

“LIV Golfer Graeme McDowell weighs in on the ongoing divide in golf: “The divisiveness has come from the best players in the world. It hasn’t came from the 40-somethings like myself that are just trying to eke out a living and staying competitive on an opportunity that was presented to us, which would have been crazy to say no to from a business point of view.”

McDowell reshared the post on his X account with a caption:

“Clickbait at its finest here. The article is about what it would mean to me to be the Ryder Cup captain in Ireland in 2027. Misquoted regards “ekeing out a living”. Supposed to read “ekeing out the last few years of my playing career”. I’ve been incredibly fortunate and if it was all done tomorrow all I would have is gratitude. That’s all.”

Graeme McDowell joined LIV Golf in 2022 and has been playing on the circuit since then. This year, it was a decent season for him. He finished in 34th position in the season standings.

McDowell was close to winning the Virginia event but settled for a T2 place. Some of his other notable finishes are T12 in Hong Kong and T17 in Mexico City.

What has Graeme McDowell said about Ryder Cup captaincy?

In his interview with Bunkered.co.uk, Graeme McDowell said that he wanted to be a Ryder Cup captain. He talked about the tournament and said:

“If it is possible, I will certainly do everything that I can to be the best Ryder Cup captain I can be. And obviously, I’d love to sit down with Ryder Cup Europe and, if it’s a possibility, find out what they would need me to do.

“As we move into the off-season, I’ll certainly make a few calls and see where the world stands. It would be the greatest moment of my life to stand there at Adare Manor as the Ryder Cup captain,” he added.

In his career, Graeme McDowell has played for the European team at the Ryder Cup four times. He made his debut in 2008 and then played in 2010, where the European team won the event. He was part of the winning team in 2012 and 2014.

In 2025, Luke Donald was the Ryder Cup Europe team captain, and under his leadership, the team retained its title. It would be interesting to see who will lead the European side at the next Ryder Cup in 2027.
