Charley Hull didn’t miss a chance to tease her good friend Ryan Evans after beating him once again in a friendly match. The English golfer shared a playful clip on Instagram, poking fun at the DP World Tour player in what has become their usual back-and-forth on the course. The 29-year-old has been on a short break from professional golf since the LOTTE Championship but continues to stay sharp through casual rounds.
In the short video posted on Thursday November 7, Hull was seen taking a swing at the driving range. She wore a dark-colored hoodie with light grey joggers and paired the outfit with white shoes. She captioned the clip:
“@ryanevansgolf lost again around the west today against me….”

Hull and Evans, who are known for their lighthearted banter, have enjoyed several friendly matches. Earlier this week, on November 5 they played at The Luffenham Heath Golf Club, where Hull carded an impressive 7-under through the first nine holes.
This isn’t the first time Hull has gotten the better of Evans. Back in August, Hull holed the winning putt in another friendly round, and Evans could only laugh it off, joking on Instagram, “I hate you” as Hull celebrated.
Though currently on a short break from the LPGA Tour, Hull has had a strong season. She won the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G earned three top-10 finishes in 14 starts and now sits at No. 6 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Charley Hull once bet $10,000 with Ryan Evans to quit smoking
Charley Hull and Ryan Evans have built a lighthearted rivalry that extends beyond the golf course. Earlier this year the English golfer even made a bold $10,000 bet with Evans during a casual practice session.
In an Instagram video from March 2025 Hull handed her pack of cigarettes to Evans vowing not to smoke for two months. If she broke the promise she agreed to pay him $10,000.
“Today, I’ve made the decision I’m going to stop smoking. I’m going to give them to Ryan now… I’m going to do a 10-grand bet with you… if I pick up a cigarette in the next two months, I’ll give you 10 grand, and I’m shaking on that, deal. I promise you I won’t, and you can chuck those in the bin for me.”
Their friendly competition hasn’t stopped there. Just last month on October 30, the two played another casual match where Evans edged out Hull after shooting 6-under over the final seven holes. Hull finished the round at 4-under 68 keeping their ongoing rivalry as entertaining as ever.
