Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jaire Alexander has revealed excitement at the prospect of debuting for the Eagles against his former side, the Green Bay Packers. Alexander spent seven years with the Packers before he was released in June.

He subsequently signed for the Baltimore Ravens but saw very limited playing opportunity before he was traded to the Eagles before the Tuesday deadline. With the possibility of making his Eagles debut against the Packers, the two-time Pro Bowler has described the opportunity as a dream come true. Speaking to the media on Friday, he said:

“I was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing, dream come true.’”

He added:

“It’s going to be nostalgic. You know, it’s going to be fun seeing the guys I grew up with.”

The Eagles are set to face the Packers on Monday, with most of Tampa Bay’s players being Alexander’s former teammates from last season. The cornerback is not lost on the challenges of facing one of the best teams in the league so far this season. He said:

“The challenge is obvious. They’re a good offense. They’re really good on third down. Those guys are a talented group.”

Packers player excited to face Jaire Alexander

A lot of the Packers’ players will also be looking forward to getting reunited with Jaire Alexander when they meet on Monday. One of them, defensive back Keisean Nixon, expressed his excitement. He said:

“I talk to him all the time. I’ve never lost communication with him. That’s my brother. It’s the same for me. Different for everybody else, but it’s the same for me. I’m excited.”

Nixon went on about his plan to make fun of Alexander’s jersey number, saying:

“We got a really good relationship. I’m excited to see him. I think he’s wearing ‘18’ or something. I think I’m gonna give him sh*t about that. Other than that, he’ll be all right.”

Jaire Alexander was a defensive force to be reckoned with before his battle with incessant injuries started two seasons ago. He has amassed 290 career tackles, 12 for loss, and 12 interceptions in the regular season. He also has 1.5 sacks, 70 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

The Packers lead the NFC North with a 5-2-1 record going into Week 10. The Eagles are similarly sitting at the top of the standings in the NFC East, entering Week 10 at 6-2. Monday’s game is therefore a battle for supremacy between the conference rivals.
