Colin Cowherd believes that there is a possibility that Sean Payton and the Broncos will leave Bo Nix behind for another quarterback in the upcoming NFL draft. On Friday’s episode of his show, he made this assumption after highlighting Nix’s struggles this season compared to his strong rookie campaign.
“10 first downs and 11 penalties. Not great for Bo Nix,” Cowherd said while discussing the Broncos vs Raiders Week 10 game. “So, if Sean Payton is your head coach … you got to do better than 10 first downs. Right now, this team has 10 more punts this year than Cleveland.
“In my opinion, Bo Nix looks nervous. That’s why he’s so bad in the first half. It’s like he’s trying to please Sean Payton, feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. He is nervous. … I’m dead serious here. Sean Payton is an impatient guy. He also understands the urgency at quarterback. … I wonder, because the roster, … would Sean Payton draft another quarterback? I’m dead serious. Bo Nix has regressed badly.”

During the Broncos’ 10-7 victory over the Raiders, Nix completed 16 of 28 passes for 150 yards, along with one touchdown and one interception. This season, the quarterback has tallied 2,126 yards and 18 TDs passing. Last season, he helped the team qualify for the playoffs while recording 3,775 yards and 29 TDs passing. However, the Broncos lost to the Bills in the wild-card round.
Sean Payton and his team are 8-2 after Thursday’s win over the Raiders. However, over the past few games, Bo Nix has been struggling to make an impact during the first half of the game.
Former NFL safety T.J. Ward believes Bo Nix is the reason behind the Broncos’ success on the field
Not everyone is critical of Nix’s second-year struggles with the Broncos. On Friday’s episode of “The Arena: Gridiron”, retired Super Bowl 50 champion T.J. Ward gave the quarterback his flowers for the team’s on-field success.
He believes that Nix plays a big role in Sean Payton’s team being 8-2 this season.
“I like Bo, he’s not perfect. What young quarterback is?” Ward said. “If you say, give me a young quarterback right now, there’s not too many guys you would take over Bo.”
T.J. Ward also said that Nix’s ability to run with the ball fits perfectly with the current era of the NFL, making him a threat on the field. The quarterback has rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns this season.
The Broncos are next scheduled to face the Chiefs on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4:25 p.m. ET. Can they improve on their seven-game winning streak in Week 11?
