New York Jets Aaron Glenn has refused to outrightly name a starting quarterback ahead of his team’s Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns. Who gets to start under the center between Justin Fields and Tyron Taylor is one of the top conversations as the game nears.
The question around the Jets’ quarterback situation was once again posed to Glenn in his media availability on Thursday. His response has remained consistent with what we’ve heard throughout the bye week, creating a lot of uncertainty about the team’s struggling offense.
“We will have a quarterback,” Glenn said. “We will have a quarterback. … I don’t worry about those things. Our guys know who’s going to be the quarterback. I know who’s going to be the quarterback. It’s just not my responsibility to have to tell you that.”

Fields started the Jets’ last game in the 39-38 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 after initially losing the starting job to Taylor. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown. However, Aaron Glenn has kept the job open despite the season’s best performance.
Aaron Glenn comments on the strength of the Jets’ two new receivers
The New Jets acquired two new wide receivers before the trade deadline. These are John Mechie III from the Philadelphia Eagles and Adonai Mitchell from the Indianapolis Colts. Aaron Glenn made comments on the strength of both players in his media availability.
“They’re both two different guys, and Mechie is a really good slot receiver,” Glenn said. “I’m not saying he can’t play outside, but he’s a master when it comes to the route concepts in the slot, be it a punch in and out of routes, be it a career separation because of his quickness.
“When you look at AD, you put him out, he is a true X receiver, and he is one that can win the one-on-one battle, slants, digs, goal balls. So we’re going to try to use those guys to what they do best. Now, they’re still learning our system. They still have today to go to see exactly how we’re going to look at those guys being a part of what we’re doing this weekend.”
Aaron Glenn is looking to make it two straight wins when they welcome the Browns to MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Without a doubt, the offense will play an important role in getting anything out of the game as they face a resilient Browns defense led by Myles Garrett.
