Kayla Nicole publicly apologized Thursday after past offensive tweets resurfaced online on November 7. In an Instagram story shared on Thursday, the NFL influencer vented her side of the story.
“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago,” Nicole wrote. “Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong. The woman I am today would never use those words or express those kinds of views.”
Nicole’s old posts included hurtful comments. One mocked an Indian girl for praying, and another made stereotypes about Black women. The third one suggested she was uncomfortable with the idea of having a gay child.

After the tweets went viral, Nicole deleted her X account. In her apology statement, Nicole said she removed the account to distance herself from negativity online.
“I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate,” she added. “I take full responsibility for what I posted, and I’m truly sorry to anyone I may have hurt. My heart, values, and perspective are completely rooted in empathy, love, and respect for others.”
She continued:
“I can’t change the past but I will continue showing it through my actions how I’ve become and what I stand for today.”
The incident follows the October 31 controversy over Kayla Nicole’s viral Halloween outfit. Nicole recreated Toni Braxton’s look from the “He Wasn’t Man Enough” music video. The video gained over 5 million views and 300,000 likes.
Because the song’s lyrics talk about a woman confronting another about her man, Taylor Swift thought Nicole was throwing shade at Taylor Swift, who is now engaged to Nicole’s ex, Travis Kelce.

At the Ebony Power 100 Gala, which took place on November 5, Kayla Nicole spoke to People Magazine about her Halloween look. She explained that “always loved Toni Braxton’s music” and dressing up like the singer felt natural because she already knew the song by heart.
On her Saturday episode of “Pre-Game” podcast, Nicole doubled down. The influencer stated how she is “not in the business of tearing other women down.” Earlier, Swifties believed Taylor Swift took a subtle jab at Kayla Nicole in her 2025 song “Opalite.”
The track is a part of Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” album, which was released on October 3. Lyrics in question read:
“You don’t understand why you feel alone / You were sincere in love, but she was just lost in her phone / You were only an image she painted for herself.”
In the wake of the controversy, a resurfaced video of Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole, where Kelce appears frustrated while Nicole remains glued to her phone, went viral.
