Brandel Chamblee is well known as one of the most controversial golf analysts in the game, while Brooks Koepka is a real no-nonsense character.
So perhaps it should have been no surprise when Chamblee and Koepka butted heads six years ago.
And interestingly, it all began when Chamblee made a big claim about the man who many regard as the greatest of all time – Tiger Woods.
Back in 2019 just a few weeks after Woods had won The Masters for a fifth time, Chamblee suggested that only two players in the game could compete with the 15-time major champion – Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy.
Chamblee has historically been a huge fan of Tiger Woods, and often credits him for being the reason why the game of golf is as popular as it is today.

Who is the better player: Rory McIlroy or Scottie Scheffler?
Meanwhile, Chamblee hasn’t quite been so complimentary about Koepka in the past, and has regularly criticized his decision to make the switch to LIV Golf.
However, the ill-feeling between the two began a long time ago – way back in 2019 in fact.
Brooks Koepka portrayed Brandel Chamblee as a clown after he made Tiger Woods claim
Six years ago, Woods produced one of the most miraculous major wins of all time after he triumphed at The Masters just two years after undergoing spinal fusion surgery.
Woods once again reached the summit of the professional game and it created a real debate regarding whether there was anyone at the time capable of challenging the now 49-year-old.
Chamblee was speaking to golf journalist Jaime Diaz back in 2019, and he responded when asked which players were capable of ‘hanging with’ Woods when he was on top form, as quoted by GOLF.com.
“In the aggregate, you’d have Dustin and Rory who are the likely two who could hang with him,” he said.
“Jon Rahm’s still got a lot to learn. His iron play’s not as sharp as it needs to be to be the best player in the world, and it forces him to have to pitch the ball…his pitching, generally speaking, is not as good as it needs to be. And Spieth’s game has fallen off. So it’s really only two players who could challenge him.
“Irrespective of the world rankings, I think all of us know what we need to know without the world rankings telling us, and it’s Rory and it’s Dustin Johnson and it’s Tiger Woods, but Tiger’s simply not going to play enough to get the points that he needs to get.”
However, the comments filtered back to Koepka, and he was clearly not happy at all.
The five-time major winner took to social media platform X and posted a picture of Chamblee mocked up as a clown.
Koepka’s social media post proves just how much pride he had in his own game at the time, and that statement is undoubtedly still true to this very day.
Brooks Koepka vs Rory McIlroy vs Dustin Johnson: Major records compared
Koepka actually makes a great point.
Here is his major record compared alongside those of McIlroy and Johnson:
| Achievements | Koepka | McIlroy | Johnson |
| Majors played | 46 | 67 | 65 |
| Wins | 5 | 5 | 2 |
| Top-5s | 14 | 19 | 11 |
| Top-10s | 18 | 33 | 23 |
| Cuts made | 38 | 55 | 49 |
Koepka’s major record is clearly superior to Johnson’s, while pound-for-pound, it’s actually better than McIlroy’s as well.
Back in 2019, the 35-year-old LIV Golf star was one of the most dominant players on the planet.
So for Chamblee to completely ignore Koepka when naming players who could challenge Woods when he was at his best was bizarre to say the least.
