Chaz Bowker opened up about his plans after making waves for his impressive performance at the Internet Invitational. He competed in the six-episode golf series, featuring 48 golf competitors, and grabbed people’s attention in the third episode after his stellar performance.
Bowker appeared in an episode of The Loop podcast this week and opened up about his golf journey.
“It’s been truly awesome to spread the word for adaptive golf,” said Bowker (via Golf Digest). “And also, for people to be able to see that if you have a swing, swing it. Don’t be anybody else. This week I definitely proved it out there. No matter if you have a disability or something, if you put your mind to it you can make it possible.”
Chaz Bowker, who is 4’4″, played at the US Adaptive Opens in his career. He started playing golf at the age of around 14 or 15 during his high school days. However, he once stopped playing golf to get into culinary school in Italy.
But after one of his friends informed him about the US Adaptive Open, he got back into the game. Chaz Bowker opened up about his golf journey in an interview in Golf Digest and said:
“So I started, like, playing junior golf middle-aged, like 14, 15. And then I decided to join the high school team and made varsity my freshman year. I was shooting like 80s, low 80s, and I was like, ‘Alright, I got a niche here.’ So I stuck with that and just played throughout high school.
“I was going to go to college and do it, but I was a foodie and I decided to go to culinary school in Italy. Yeah, it’s kind of different, so I stopped golf. And then a good friend of mine, Johnny Hanno, sent me a message saying that USGA is announcing the Adaptive Open four years ago. And I was like, ‘I’m back baby, let’s go.’ So I started grinding again,” he added.
Chaz Bowker is pretty active on social media, and he often shares golf-related content on Instagram and has around 131K followers.
