Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews defends Tom Brady as NFL legend becomes “most scrutinized person” after entering sportscasting

Fox Sports

Erin Andrews stood up for her close friend, Tom Brady, as the NFL legend settles into his career as a sports broadcaster. Andrews said Brady has faced way more criticism than most people who enter the booth.

The NFL reporter explained on Monday that even though Brady had some early struggles, he has shown improvement.

“I think we saw that with Tom Brady,” Andrews said (50:56), via the “New Heights” podcast. “I mean, I think he was the most scrutinized person to get into a booth, especially last year, right? And I’m proud of him.”

The growth became more obvious to her when she revisited one of Brady’s first broadcasts. Andrews stressed that the difference stood out on Sept. 28 when she rewatched a previous game.

“We were um think we were doing Tampa, maybe it was Eagles versus Tampa Week 4, and I was sitting in my hotel room and they were playing last year’s Eagles versus Bucks game and I texted TB, and said, ‘Wow, listening to you in this game, which was your fourth game of the season versus now it’s just night and day,”‘ Andrews said. “That’s a testament.”

For Andrews, Brady’s progress comes as no surprise. She highlighted that his improvement shows the same hard work he put during his playing career.

As Fox Sports’ lead sideline reporter, Andrews covered many of Brady’s games while he was with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They became colleagues in 2023 when Brady signed a 10-year $375 million deal to become Fox’s lead NFL analyst.

Erin Andrews shares the secret behind Tom Brady’s glow-up post retirement

Erin Andrews spoke openly on Monday about Tom Brady’s clean look since he retired. She joked that the NFL legend looks even better now, and she is amazed and a little annoyed by how fast it happened.

“I think I’m more annoyed about how good he’s gotten and how quickly,” Andrews said (51:49), via the “New Heights” podcast. “I’m like, come on. Do you do everything well? This is crazy. And you look fantastic.”

The podcast’s cohost and ex-Eagles star, Jason Kelce, joined in, discussing how Brady’s hair and skin look great. He said he wants to know what Brady is doing to look that good.

“He’s not going to bars, Jason,” Andrews said.

Kelce laughed and admitted that he is not ready to give up that part of his life. His brother, Travis Kelce, said Brady might not be totally natural about his look.

“I don’t know if he’s embracing the grays, Jason,” Travis said. “I think you embrace the grays.”

Brady retired for good in 2023. Along with working in broadcasting, he owns a minority stake in the Raiders. He also became a part-owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces in 2023.
