Kai Trump is set to step into a new role later this month as she joins the broadcast team for the first-ever Optum Golf Channel Games at Trump National Golf Club. Golf Channel has confirmed that she will appear as a guest commentator during the event.

The update came on December 4 when reporter Josh Carpenter shared the full broadcast lineup on X. He pointed out Kai’s involvement, writing:

“Full on-air talent for the Golf Channel Games. Kai Trump will provide “guest commentary.” Event is being played at a Trump property”

The primetime event will air on Golf Channel and USA Network on December 17 at 7 p.m. ET. The made-for-TV competition will feature four-player teams taking on various skills challenges, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy among the top names. Kai will appear during select segments and take part in challenge demonstrations with Johnson Wagner. She will also help with the trophy ceremony.

Kai Trump has already gained attention in the golf world. She recently played in The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican on a sponsor exemption and has built a strong online presence with more than 8 million followers across her social media platforms.

The rest of the broadcast team includes Steven Sands on play-by-play and PGA Tour pro Keith Mitchell as an analyst. Smylie Kaufman, Brad Faxon and Johnson Wagner will handle on-course commentary for the inaugural Optum Golf Channel Games.

Kai Trump shares how she handles online criticism after LPGA debut

Kai Trump recently opened up about dealing with negativity on social media following her appearance at The Annika driven by Gainbridge. The 18-year-old, who plays for The Benjamin School, struggled in her first professional start and finished at the bottom of the leaderboard, missing the cut after two rounds.

With a growing public profile, Kai said she has learned not to let online comments get to her. Speaking with her aunt, Lara Trump, on My View with Lara Trump, she explained her approach when facing trolls:

“I just stay away from it. It doesn’t really affect me because, I don’t know, I know who I am. It doesn’t really matter, to be honest. People say whatever they want to say at the end of the day. I know what’s true and I know the type of person I am. It doesn’t really matter.” (via Fox News)

Kai Trump reflected on her first LPGA experience, saying the nerves on day one were unlike anything she had felt before.

“The first day, I’ve never been more nervous in my entire life. That was like the [Republican National Convention] times 30. It was very nerve-racking. For the nerves, I played well the first day. Then, the second day, I kinda went out there and was like, ‘OK, no more nerves.’ The nerves weren’t as bad and I did really well. So, I mean, it was a great experience. Thankful for the opportunity.”

She started the tournament with an 83 but bounced back with a 75 in the second round. Even though she didn’t make the cut Kai said the experience gave her more confidence as she prepares for college golf. She will join the University of Miami next year as she continues to grow her game.
