Richard Sherman doubles down on George Pickens criticism after accusing Cowboys WR of lack of effort in Week 14 loss

George Pickens was invisible in the Dallas Cowboys’ 44-30 loss at the Detroit Lions, covering just 37 yards on five receptions. And nearly a week after that game, Richard Sherman is continuing to verbally destroy him.

On Wednesday’s episode of Pat Surtain and Terrion Arnold’s “Closed on Sundays” podcast, the former Super Bowl-winning cornerback said:

“If you want to be the guy… then you can’t really take no plays off. Big-time players don’t give a damn about no bracket. Bracket? Ball coming. Double team? Ball coming. Cloud? Ball coming.”

Those comments continue from what he said during Amazon’s post-game show:

“George Pickens just looked uninterested in playing football. And that’s what you can’t have if you’re going to be a superstar, if you want to be the best receiver in the National Football League. … Doesn’t matter if the game is going your way or not – you can’t just disappear. … It’s unacceptable.”

That turned into a feud. In a now-deleted Instagram story, Pickens mocked Sherman’s career, then sent this warning to the “leach weirdo”, who responded by mentioning his career achievements:

“Don’t speak on me unless you know the game of football as a former player and not a d***riding fan/analyst that act like double team is not a thing or a certain bracket coverages doesn’t exist.”

The situation eventually reached Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who said:

“I’m aware of what was supposedly put out there. … Again, this is unfortunately things that we deal with in this profession.”

George Pickens linked to former team’s divisional rivals in 2026 free agency

George Pickens will be a free agent after the 2025 season, having arrived in Arlington from the Pittsburgh Steelers with one year left in his contract. And ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes he will be returning to the AFC North in 2026 – but this time wearing a different jersey:

“The (Baltimore) Ravens need a classic boundary receiver on the outside and could address that with one big move in free agency. George Pickens would be a significant upgrade. … If (he is) available, the Ravens could use some of their $40 million in cap space on (him), knowing John Harbaugh is good at managing big personalities.”

Pickens and the Cowboys’ next game will be against the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday. Kickoff is at 7:20 pm CT on NBC.
