Michael Kim recently shared a behind-the-scenes look from the Grant Thornton Invitational practice field. The star golfer stated that, contrary to what some might think, the players were indeed quite serious about the event and were grinding even after playing an 18-hole pro-am.

Michael Kim is making his Grant Thornton Invitational debut this week and is teaming up with Rose Zhang. The third edition of the event will begin on Friday, December 12, at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples.

On Thursday, December 11, Kim shared a BTS image of him and others practicing after the Grant Thornton Invitational Pro-Am.

“You’d think in a 16 team fun format, guys and gals would be having fun, taking it easy” he wrote. “Nope, we’re all a bit crazy and players are grinding after a 18 hole pro am. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I thought I was a bit crazy having my coach come see me but I wasn’t close to being the only one! 😂”

As per the odds, Michael Kim and Rose Zhang are in the middle of the oddsmakers’ picks for this week’s event. The duo is teaming up for the first time, with Kim being a rookie at the event. Zhang played a couple of years ago and tied for ninth alongside Sahith Theegala, who is not participating this time.

The 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational will be a 54-hole event, and each day will be played in a different format. The first day will use the Scramble format, where each player tees off and the team selects the best ball to play from for the next stroke.

The next day will be the Foursome format, where players hit alternate shots with one ball. One teammate will tee off on the odd-numbered holes while the other will start on the even-numbered holes.

Sunday will be played in the Modified Fourball format, where both players begin together but will switch balls for the next shot. The lower score on each hole will be counted as the team’s score.
