“I think Shedeur Sanders is better than Caleb Williams”: LeSean McCoy draws parallels between QBs ahead of Browns–Bears showdown

LeSean McCoy is making a bold claim regarding Shedeur Sanders ahead of the Cleveland Browns’ Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. With Sanders coming up against Caleb Williams, the analyst made an audacious comparison between the two quarterbacks.

In a Friday episode of the “Speakeasy” podcast, McCoy believes the result of the game would determine the better quarterback between the two. The podcast host has a lot of confidence in Sanders heading into the game at Soldier Field following his recent performances.

“I think if he beats Caleb Williams, I think he’s better than Caleb Williams,” McCoy said. “We keep forgetting that this kid’s only been starting for two weeks. He’s only had two weeks as a full starter.

“I don’t count the first game when he played. He ain’t had no reps. He ain’t know the game plan for him. That game plan was for Dillon Gabriel. Now he’s in a game plan for himself, the plays he likes. Now his head coach ain’t acting like he ain’t Shedeur. Right now, he lets that swagger go.”

The Sunday game will be the first time Shedeur Sanders and Caleb Williams face off in the NFL, but the second time in their football careers. Their only meeting came during their college football days when USC defeated Colorado 48-41 at Folsom Field.

LeSean McCoy believes NFL GMs have questions to answer if Shedeur Sanders wins

Should Shedeur Sanders lead the Browns to win against the Bears on Sunday, LeSean McCoy believes quite a lot of GMs have a lot of questions to answer regarding their decision-making. Sanders was left on the board until the fifth round during the 2025 NFL draft in April.

“If he beats Caleb Williams, another thing we gotta talk about, all these NFL GMs,” McCoy said. “Yeah, them. This is why we need more players in the building. You know why? Because we don’t care about how he talks on interviews. We don’t care about what jewelry he wears.

“We don’t care about how he celebrates. We don’t care who his daddy is. We want a dude that can ball and help our franchise win. And if you beat the number one pick two years ago, draft class, we look at every GM in the eye and say, ‘Yo, are you suitable for this position?’”

Shedeur Sanders will make his fourth NFL start for the Browns against the Bears. In his four appearances this season, the rookie quarterback has thrown for 769 yards and five touchdowns with three interceptions. However, he only led the team to victory once in those games.
