“SCREW YOU JOE BURROW”: Craig Carton blasts $275,000,000 QB for voicing frustration amid Bengals’ 4-9 abysmal

Joe Burrow has been put on blast for venting his recent frustrations. On Friday, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow spoke about the importance of having fun, questioning why he should keep doing it if he’s not enjoying himself. Those comments did not sit well with NFL host Craig Carton. On The Craig Carton Show, Friday, he said:

“You (Burrow) have over $200 million guaranteed… if that’s not fun, I don’t know what is!” said Carton (Time Stamp 0:19).

In September 2023, Burrow signed a five-year extension with the Bengals worth $275 million, becoming the highest-paid player in the league for annual salary at $55 million a season.

Carton explains what his first thoughts were when hearing Joe Burrow’s frustrations.

“Screw you, Joe Burrow. Like, what are you complaining about? You’re doing it because you got 200 million guaranteed, you bought the Batmobile,” Carton concluded (Time Stamp 1:06).

Burrow has rarely been healthy over the past few seasons, missing over 20 games due to injury since leading the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance in 2021. That’s equivalent to a season and a half of missing football. Carton acknowledges that, for him, the front office hasn’t done enough to build a good supporting cast around Burrow, adding that the defense has been brutal. That aside, he believes Burrow doesn’t have anything to complain about.

The Bengals are in serious danger of missing the playoffs for a third straight season and need to win their remaining games and get a lot of help to avoid that. Burrow has only started four games this season, going 3-1. As an offense they are 22nd in the NFL for offensive yards per game at 315.2. They are 10th in the league for passing yards per game at 228.8. They were first in that category a season ago with an average of 272.9

Burrow wants to stay with the Bengals

While he doesn’t sound happy with how things have gone for himself or the team, that doesn’t mean Burrow wants out of Cincinnati.

That’s according to The Athletics’ Dianna Russini, who says the former first overall pick hasn’t requested a trade or even hinted at leaving Cincinnati. Earlier this week, former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Kurt Warner recommended that the San Francisco 49ers make a move to acquire Burrow.

It sounds like other teams have taken notice of Burrow’s frustrations, though, and may be looking at the Bengals as a way to the future.

Burrow missed two months of the season with a turf toe injury in Week Two. They need him to be at his best to put pressure on the teams they’re chasing in the postseason race. Since returning from his injury, he’s thrown for over 260 yards both times and looked like the franchise quarterback they pegged him as in 2020.

They are 4-9 heading into tomorrow’s home game with the Baltimore Ravens.
