“Jersey retired yet” “Nepo baby”: NFL fans rip Shedeur Sanders over 17.7 passer rating during horrific outing in 31-3 loss vs. Bears

Shedeur Sanders cratered on Sunday, and Twitter went nuclear once the final stats dropped. The Browns quarterback went 10-of-25 for only 131 yards and three picks in a brutal 31-3 beatdown by the Bears at Soldier Field. His 17.7 passer rating had fans ready to write him off completely.

Fans on X unloaded.

“Jersey retired yet?” one fan tweeted, referencing his college jersey retirement at his alma mater, Colorado.

“Nepo baby,” another fan wrote about Deion Sanders’ son.

“Shedeur really out here handing out interceptions like candy,” a third wrote.

Here are more fan reactions.

“ESPN is going to play him up like he went 22/24, 5 TD and 400 yards,” one fan tweeted.

“They crowned him the future after playing the titans,” another posted.

“The future of humanity begins with your self-realization,” a third posted.

Chicago’s defense came into the game leading the league with 18 interceptions. Shedeur Sanders made their job easy. His first pick happened when linebacker D’Marco Jackson tipped a pass at the line and grabbed it himself. The Bears cashed that in for a touchdown.

Sanders tried forcing a deep ball to Jerry Jeudy in the end zone on the next drive. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson just ripped it right out of Jeudy’s hands for pick number two. Chicago turned that into another score. His third interception was even worse. An underthrown floater to Harold Fannin that C.J. Gardner-Johnson snagged without breaking a sweat in the fourth quarter.

Last week against Tennessee, he threw for over 360 yards and three touchdowns, though Cleveland still lost.

What’s next for Shedeur Sanders and the Browns?

Cleveland is now 3-11 after dropping three straight. The franchise is staring down another offseason quarterback crisis, and Shedeur Sanders hasn’t exactly made the decision easy.

Coach Kevin Stefanski has already committed to keeping Sanders as the starter through the final three games. That makes sense for a team with nothing to lose.

They could roll with Sanders and hope he develops. They could bring back Deshaun Watson, who’s been rehabbing from his second Achilles tear and hasn’t played all season. Or they go back to the draft with another high pick and start fresh.

Sanders gets another shot to prove himself when the Buffalo Bills visit Cleveland next weekend.
