Sage Steele calls out Donald Trump over "disappointing tweet" on Hollywood director Rob Reiner

After legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife passed away on Sunday, Donald Trump shared a post on X regarding their death. However, sports commentator and anchor Sage Steele was not happy about what POTUS had posted.

On X,Steele shared Trump’s post on Rob Reiner’s death. She accompanied it with a caption where she expressed his disappointment with the President’s words, highlighting how it negatively impacts what he’s done for the country.

“This tweet is so disappointing. And so unnecessary. It’s comments like this that take away from the countless great things @realDonaldTrump does for America,” Steele said.

Rob and his wife, Michele, were found deceased at their Brentwood home Sunday afternoon. Just a day later, their son Nick Reiner was arrested by the police in connection with their death.

According to TMZ, the Hollywood director and his wife had injuries consistent with those caused by a knife. Rob Reiner’s son was booked on suspicion of murder and is currently being held on a $4 million bond.

After the news broke out, Donald Trump shared a controversial tweet that has received a lot of backlash and criticism.

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Stephen A. Smith gets real on Donald Trump’s post on Rob Reiner’s death

On Sunday, ESPN’s “First Take” host Stephen A. Smith shared a video criticizing Trump’s response to Rob Reiner’s death.

“I wanna state that it’s not because of them. Because plenty of them have come out and spoken against the President,” Smith said. “But it’s disgusting rhetoric like this. There’s no place for it. Now one has nothing to do with the other. We get that. But violence is violence.

“I’m talking about prioritizing a core level of decency when somebody gets killed, when somebody gets murdered. That ain’t the time to be sticking out your chest and basically indicating that they brought it on themselves. … And you would think that our Commander in Chief, the President of the United States of America, would know this better than anybody. But evidently this man does not.”

Rob Reiner was known for movies such as “When Harry Met Sally” and “A Few Good Men.” Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and close friends.
