Stephen A. Smith urges Tom Brady to choose Raiders over $375,000,000 Fox job amid “awful” 2-12 record in 2025 NFL season

Stephen A. Smith urges Tom Brady to choose Raiders over $375,000,000 Fox job amid "awful" 2-12 record in 2025 NFL season

After retirement, Tom Brady is serving both as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders while pursuing his broadcasting career as an analyst for FOX Sports. However, Stephen A. Smith believes that the seven-time Super Bowl champion should completely shift his focus towards developing the franchise.

On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” he highlighted how the Raiders have been struggling this season, managing to record just two wins in 14 games. Smith then suggested that Tom Brady should leave his job as an analyst for FOX, with whom he signed a 10-year $375 million deal in 2022.

He wanted him to take responsibility for the franchise’s football operations.

“They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,” Smith said. “But the Raiders are so awful right now that the stench has circulated throughout the country. Every football city recognizes how awful they have been.

“Put Tom Brady in charge, Mark Davis. Just hand over. … hand over football operations to Tom Brady okay. Not that yu can, because he’s not going to leave the job that he’s got at Fox paying him over $37 million to run the damn Raiders. He ain’t stupid at all. But ask him anyways. Figure out the Raiders. Because you need all the help you can get.”

On Sunday, the Raiders suffered a 31-0 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. This resulted in them putting up an eight-game losing streak while being placed dead last in the AFC West with a 2-12 record.

This year was the team’s first campaign under new coach Pete Carroll. However, despite high expectations, they have been pretty underwhelming on the field. The Raiders are ranked second from last in terms of total offense, averaging 257.2 yards and 21 touchdowns. The defense has performed fairly better, ranking No.16 in terms of total defense.

Could Tom Brady unretire to play for the Raiders?

The Indianapolis Colts shocked the NFL world by signing 44-year-old Philip Rivers earlier this month. The veteran quarterback, who last played five years ago, unretired to take over as the QB1 of the team amid their injury woes in the quarterback department.

During last Thursday’s episode of “NFL on FOX,” Tom Brady shared his thoughts on Rivers’ return to the gridiron while revealing the chances of his own comeback.

“For Philip to do that. It’s good for him,” Brady said. “I’m happy he’s doing it. I think the answer for me would be yes.

“I’m not allowed anymore, because I’m an owner, a minority owner of the Raiders. So I can’t unretire. But I’m very excited to watch Philip play if he’s out there, I think it’s just very cool.”

Philip Rivers made his return during Sunday’s 18-16 loss to the Colts. The veteran quarterback completed 18 of 27 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown.
