Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt had a message for the fanbase after the franchise’s $3 billion relocation plan.
While making the historic announcement on Monday, he highlighted how this decision impacts their fans and what it brings to the table overall.
“Chiefs fans on both sides of the stateline can tell you, that success that we’ve enjoyed together over the past decade, has elevated the profile of the entire region,” Hunt said. “Sports are woven into the fabric of this community. And if you travel. … You don’t have to tell people which side of the state line you’re from. You tell them you’re from Kansas City. There’s a pretty good chance that the response might have something to do with the Chiefs.
“Regardless of where you live or where you’re watching from today, I hope this team has made you proud. And I hope you’re as excited as we are about this next chapter in Chiefs history.”

Clark Hunt’s team currently plays their home games at Arrowhead Stadium, which is located in Missouri. 52 years later, the Chiefs are now moving to Kansas after a closed-door meeting with legislative leaders gave the green light to issue STAR bonds to finance the relocation.
This $3 billion project plan includes the construction of a new stadium for the team, along with a new HQ and a new training facility in Olathe. The planned project is set to be unveiled by 2031.
48th Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly, expressed her excitement about ushering in a new chapter in Chiefs history alongside Clark Hunt.
“Today, we are announcing an agreement to bring our beloved Kansas City Chiefs right here to Kansas,” Kelly said. “For the rest of the nation, I say take heed. Kansas is not a flyover state. We are a touchdown state.
“The state portion is coming from revenue generated by the stadium, entertainment venues, STAR bonds, and lottery funds. Not with new taxes.”
Clark Hunt highlights the positives of the billion dollar relocation plan
During his announcement, Clark Hunt also talked about the benefits of the relocation project for the Chiefs.
He said that it will further push the team to contest for Super Bowls and also entice world-class players to join the franchise.
“The benefit to the entire region would be monumental,” Clark Hunt said. “A stadium of this caliber will put Kansas City in the running for Super Bowls, Final Fours and other world-class events. A brand new training facility and headquarters will allow the Chiefs to continue to attract top talent.”
This season, the Chiefs failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2014. They are ranked third in the AFC West with a 6-9 record and a four-game losing streak.
