Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders will get the sixth start of his rookie career in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Although the Browns have long been eliminated from playoff contention, they are using the final stretch of the regular season to build a team for next year.

While there have been rumors that Sanders has not been getting along well with Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, the QB rubbished those stories on Tuesday.

“It means a lot because having a coach’s trust is a big thing in this game,” Sanders said about his relationship with Stefanski. “You build trust. You get trust and you earn the trust of the coach by getting completions, by moving the ball down the field and doing what we did last game. That’s how you build trust.”

The Browns took Sanders with the No. 144 pick in this year’s NFL draft. He was the second QB they drafted, taking Dillon Gabriel 50 picks earlier.

On Tuesday, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin praised Shedeur Sanders for his growing reputation in the NFL.

“Shedeur is doing a really good job,” Tomlin said. “He’s growing and growing with each week from an outsider’s perspective. I think it’s always cool when you’re growing with the company. I certainly see him gravitating towards some young players whose roles are expanding since the last time we played them.”

In six games this season, Sanders has completed 92 of 167 passes for 1,103 yards with six touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has also added 123 yards and a TD on 14 carries.

Sanders is 1-4 as a start for the Browns. He will be looking to get his second win against the Steelers on Sunday.
