Amid Tiger Woods’ absence from majors and PGA Tour events, there have been speculations about his potential entry into the PGA Tour Champions roster. However, the 2025 Charles Schwab Cup winner talked about the legendary golfer’s probable inclusion in the senior circuit.
Woods’ legacy on the PGA Tour is set in stone after 82 wins and 15 major championships. While he is already considered one of the greatest golfers to step on the course, the question now is whether he will be able to create a new legacy if he were to play on the PGA Tour Champions.
While many fans and experts have placed their bets on the Cypress-native, 2025 Charles Schwab Cup winner, Stewart Cink, did not believe that Woods would create a new legacy on the PGA Tour Champions. In an exclusive interview with Golf.com, Cink also mentioned why playing on the senior golf tour would be ‘good’ for Woods.
“[Woods] already made his legacy. He’s not going to come out here and like, recreate a new legacy. But I think he would be able to strip it down to its purest form, and that’s just competition, and testing himself out. It would be a good way for him to test out his body and see how things are going, getting ready for some of his other tournaments, majors and whatnot. It would be huge.”
Stewart Cink had once claimed that the Cypress native was interested in joining the tour.
When Stewart Cink claimed that Tiger Woods seemed ‘excited’ for the PGA Tour Champions
In a 2023 interview with Golf Channel’s George Savaricas, before the World Wide Technology Championship, Stewart Cink shared about bumping into Tiger Woods during his visit to Diamante and claimed that Woods had started practicing.
Cink also said in the interview that Woods had apparently shown interest in the PGA Tour Champions. He further stated:
“It sounds like he’s excited for it. That would be great for me. I’ll have a place to play for a while.
“I may have my second go at the Tiger Woods rollercoaster. I got on at the same time he did and I’d like nothing more than to be part of the Champions tour experience.”
Although Tiger Woods has not confirmed anything yet, Cink’s fellow PGA Tour Champions golfer Ernie Els has stated that it would be beneficial for Woods to play in the senior circuit due to the format and the use of golf carts. The Big Easy further stated that Woods would also be able to get back to golf shape.
