“If Dak Prescott don’t go sit his a*s down and stop this!”: Ryan Clark doesn’t mince his words on Cowboys QB wanting to play final game

Ryan Clark thinks Dak Prescott should ride the bench in Cowboys

Dak Prescott wants to play in the final week of the 2025 season despite another playoff absence, but at least one person is looking to convince him otherwise.

During his post-game press conference after a 30-23 win at the Washington Commanders on Christmas, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback gave his reason for wanting to be on the field at the New York Giants next week:

“I love this game, I love any opportunity that I get to play it. … Any season of me being out there, I’ve never had, in all my life career, a season under .500.”

Ryan Clark, however, does not want him to do it. On Friday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, the former Super Bowl-winning and Pro Bowl safety gave this warning:

“If Dak Prescott don’t go sit his ass down and stop this! (He) has had two season-ending injuries. (He) knows what it’s like to not be able to play, to not be able to get on the field, to not be able to have an offseason where you can train and get better.”

He continued:

“(He) doesn’t have a thing to prove. (He) has played hard. (He) has led with the top of leaders in this league. And that’s all we need to see. … If I’m Brian Schottenheimer, I stand in front of the team and say, ‘Sometimes you got to save competitors from themselves.'”

Dak Prescott urges Cowboys to re-sign Jadeveon Clowney for 2026 season

Dak Prescott’s top offensive weapon throughout this season has been George Pickens, who has set career-highs in every relevant statistical category. But the wideout is not the only Cowboy who will become available for others to sign in the offseason.

Jadeveon Clowney has quietly become the team’s leading pass rusher at 5.5 sacks, but he is on a one-year contract. And Prescott made his case for Jerry Jones to keep the veteran on board for 2026:

“He is a guy that loves the game, you can feel it, any conversations you have with him. He is a great teammate … We’re fortunate to have him.”

Clowney himself said about his offseason plans:

‘[I’d re-sign in Dallas] if they’re willing to bring me back, but, yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m definitely gonna play. I got a lot left in the tank. I ain’t gonna go sit on my couch. I’m gonna stay ready. Maybe sign a little bit earlier, and go to camp next year so I can get the rust off me.”

Broadcast details for the Cowboys’ game at the Giants will be revealed at the end of Week 17.
