The wild Scottie Scheffler prediction from 2025 that simply won’t be repeated for 2026

Scottie Scheffler had another dominant season on the PGA Tour as he firmly put to bed one of the craziest predictions about him for the 2025 season.

Scheffler won two more majors to add to his ever growing resume and cemented his place at the top of the world rankings with yet more dominance.

The only real blot on his season was a Ryder Cup full of disappointment for Team USA, although even then, Scheffler managed to beat Rory McIlroy in the singles.

How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?

The world number one already has four majors under his belt

Still, that Ryder Cup plays a big part in one of the more bizarre predictions made about Scheffler for the 2025 season.

And that prediction came courtesy of Phil Mickelson, who was left red faced in the end.

Phil Mickelson’s prediction about Scottie Scheffler that was so wrong

If we go all the way back to March, this is where we saw one of the boldest takes in quite some time from Mickelson.

Taking to social media as he often does, theLIV Golf star claimed Scheffler would not win on the PGA Tour until the Ryder Cup at least.

Clearly, in the end, that proved to be a massive error of judgement from Mickelson as Scheffler put him firmly in his place.

The world number one won three events in May alone, before winning The Open in July, the BMW in August, and the Procore Championship in September.

In fact, after Mickelson’s claim here, Scheffler never actually finished outside the top ten in a PGA Tour event, such was his dominance.

Can Scottie Scheffler keep it up in 2026?

While it remains to be seen if Scheffler can continue the remarkable form and consistency he has shown in 2024 and then 2025, we can almost guarantee nobody will make such a wild call like Mickelson did here.

The idea of Scheffler not winning at all on the PGA Tour up to September doesn’t even really bear thinking about.

How many shots would Scottie Scheffler beat Tiger Woods by in an 18-hole stroke play match?

The only realistic way this does happen is if he either gets injured, or suffers a drop off in form that would be one of the most dramatic things we’ve seen in sport for some time.

Put simply, Scottie Scheffler is a golfing machine and anything but another major and three or four wins in 2026 will be seen as a failure.
