The New England Patriots were hit with a big setback on Tuesday after wide receiver Stefon Diggs was charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery.

The Patriots received more bad news after news of defensive tackle Christian Barmore facing domestic violence charges in two unrelated cases emerged on Wednesday.

According to court documents, Barmore is charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member in an incident that occurred in August in Mansfield.

The Patriots shared a statement regarding Barmore’s case and his scheduled court arraignment in February. The franchise were aware of the legal process and also informed the league about the incident.

“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August. The Patriots were made aware at the time and informed the NFL in a timely manner.

“The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Barmore, who missed a major chunk of last season due to blood clots, has featured in 16 games this season, registering 12 solo tackles and one sack.

Details of ongoing Christian Barmore legal case emerged this week

According to a report by NBC Boston, the charges against Christian Barmore stem from his alleged altercation in August with a woman he was dating for more than three years.

The Patriots star argued with the woman about air conditioning and threw her to the floor in an alleged altercation the next day. The woman reportedly filed a restraining order against Barmore after the incident. The anonymous woman Barmore was dating admitted she was pregnant with his child.
