John Daly has never represented the United States at the Ryder Cup but he’s convinced he knows how to fix their recent problems in the competition.
Team Europe have won nine out of the last 12 Ryder Cup meetings with America and that simply isn’t good enough from a US perspective.
The Europeans were rampant once again in 2025 at Bethpage Black and the United States clearly need to make some big changes if they are to turn around their Ryder Cup fortunes.
John Daly might not be the first man the PGA of America look to for potential solutions to their issues.

If Tiger Woods is not the next US Ryder Cup captain, who should get the job for Adare Manor?
The thing is, he actually made a great point about something that is often overlooked at the very highest level of the game.
John Daly once said why America struggle at the Ryder Cup
Back in 2015, Daly was speaking to The Daily Mail about what was going wrong for the United States at the Ryder Cup.
“Hopefully I would one day be a captain,“ he said.
“All I know is my team, if I was a captain, we’d have a blast. You don’t want to wear a tie, don’t wear a tie. Have fun. It’s supposed to be fun.“
The interesting thing is that since Daly’s comments in 2015, Team USA’s problems at the Ryder Cup have got even worse.
They have lost three of the five editions of the competition since and they still haven’t won away from home since 1993!
Daly made a great point by suggesting that the American players need to have more fun.
However, there’s no way he will ever be made captain, due to some of his controversial actions in the past.
That’s a real shame because he won the PGA Championship in 1991 and considering the fact that the US team is run by the PGA of America, that should have counted for something.
Team USA need a fresh start at the Ryder Cup
Moving forward, the Americans need to do something different. Despite Keegan Bradley’s suggestion that he and his vice-captains followed the data and analysis, it was clear that they didn’t.
Who’s THE MOST overrated golfer in the world?
Bradley’s Ryder Cup captaincy was a huge disappointment right from the opening speeches through until the end of the second day’s play.
Even an incredible comeback from the US team during the Sunday singles wasn’t enough to turn things around.
Maybe the PGA of America really should think outside the box and appoint John Daly as the next Ryder Cup captain.
Would he really do any worse than the majority of past 15 US Ryder Cup captains?
