Saquon Barkley hit with massive $250,000 bad news after Nick Sirianni’s decision to bench All-Pro RB for Week 18

This season, Saquon Barkley has recorded 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns rushing, along with 273 yards and two touchdowns receiving. According to reports, he is just 87 yards shy of hitting a $250,000 incentive bonus on his contract, which activates if he totals a combined 1,500 rushing and receiving yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles, who have already won the NFC East title and qualified for the playoffs, face the Washington Commanders in their final regular-season game in Week 18. This is Saquon Barkley’s final chance to hit that incentive marker.

However, the running back received some concerning news ahead of the team’s regular-season finale. According to coach Nick Sirianni, the team would be resting Barkley along with QB1 Jalen Hurts to avoid the risk of injury before the playoffs.

“#Eagles HC Nick Sirianni announced they will rest RB Saquon Barkley in Week 18 in preparation for the playoffs,” FOX Sports tweeted.

This decision hampers the three-time Pro Bowler’s chance of getting that $250,000 incentive. However, the Eagles could decide to adjust the incentive target so that Barkley still gets that bonus. They did this last year with ex-DE Josh Sweat’s contract, which still led to him getting paid for the sack incentive.

Saquon Barkley spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants. In March 2024, he agreed to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million with the Eagles. Last season, the running back recorded 2,005 yards and 13 TDs rushing while going on to win Super Bowl LIX.

Saquon Barkley has high praise for Eagles LB Chance Campbell

The Tennessee Titans drafted Chance Campbell with the 219th overall pick back in 2022. In August 2025, he joined the Eagles. The LB was waived as a part of the final roster cut but was re-signed to the practice squad.

Despite not taking to the field this season, Saquon Barkley had high praise for Campbell as one of the best scout team players on the franchise.

“See this motherf****r right here?” Barkley said pointing toward’s Campbell’s locker. Really good. Like, probably one of the best scout team players I’ve ever gone against in my life.”

The Eagles vs Commanders showdown will take place on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS. Can Nick Siranni’s team end the regular season on a winning note?
