LeBron James reveals true feelings on Myles Garrett breaking NFL sack record and taking the crown from Michael Strahan

Myles Garrett will not make the playoffs for the second straight season with the Cleveland Browns. However, he achieved a personal milestone in Week 18. The four-time All-Pro DE was just one sack shy of dethroning J.J. Watt and Michael Strahan as the single-season record holder in sacks.

On Sunday, during their 20-18 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Garrett finally achieved this record and broke the record. He had his 23rd sack of the season after tackling quarterback Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter.

After etching his name into NFL history, four-time NBA champion LeBron James congratulated Myles Garrett on social media.

“CONGRATULATIONS MY GOOD BROTHER!!!!!” James wrote while tagging Garrett on X.

This season was the Browns’ sixth year under coach Kevin Stefanski. The last time they made the playoffs was during the 2023 season, where they lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round.

The Browns drafted Garrett with the first overall pick during the 2017 NFL draft. The DE agreed to a four-year extension worth $160 million in March 2025, keeping him with the franchise through 2028.

Following this victory over the Bengals, Kevin Stefanski and his team ended the year in fourth place in the AFC North with a 5-12 record and a two-game winning streak. Garrett tallied a total of 60 tackles and 23 sacks.

“It was everything I expected,” Garrett said after the game as per ESPN. “It was so tough. I knew they were going to make it difficult, but s**t, I don’t think I saw more than three singles on a real dropback the whole game. I just knew that if I did, I’d have to make that moment count. The feeling couldn’t be better.”

Pat McAfee gets honest about Myles Garrett’s breaking Michael Strahan and J.J. Watt’s single-season sack record

Ex-Colts punter Pat McAfee took to social media to congratulate the Browns DE on creating history in Week 18.

He said that it is a moment that fans will remember for years to come, and how Garrett has established himself as a part of NFL history.

“Congratulations to Myles Garrett. Epic moment in the history of ball… will be remembered, glorified and chatted about forever,” McAfee tweeted.

In nine years, Garrett has tallied 412 total tackles and 125.5 sacks. Can the Browns make a playoff run this upcoming season?
