Robert MacIntyre has shared his top tip for junior golfers looking to improve their game.
MacIntyre has recently developed into one of the PGA Tour’s best players and is currently seventh in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Not many people have greater knowledge of how to progress from an amateur to an elite professional.
So, here is MacIntyre’s “best advice” for young golfers, which may be different from what they have heard before.

MacIntyre responded to questions from his fans on Instagram while traveling on Wednesday.
There, he named his key piece of advice for junior golfers looking to develop their skills.
“Get the basic mechanics of the golf swing, then go and be creative,” MacIntyre suggested. “Hit wild shots. Learn the game, not the swing.”
MacIntyre also recommended aspiring golfers go to college in America to give themselves the best chance of turning pro.
“I think it’s the best way for people to learn and test themselves against the best,” he said.

MacIntyre also gave several interesting answers about his own career during the Instagram Q&A.
The Scotsman named the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black as his favorite memory from the 2025 season.
He also picked the Open Championship as the major he would most like to win in his career.
Meanwhile, MacIntyre listed his favourite DP World Tour events, apart from his beloved Scottish Open.
“Honestly, there are so many great events,” he replied. “[Dubai] Desert Classic, Irish Open, Abu Dhabi [HSBC Championship], French Open, Italian Open. Almost all the national opens.”
