Skip Bayless names Vikings coach as best fit for Lamar Jackson and Ravens job

Skip Bayless and Lamar Jackson

John Harbaugh was fired by the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, and Skip Bayless shared his opinion on who should lead Lamar Jackson moving forward. The sports commentator pinpointed Minnesota’s defensive coordinator as the right match for the star quarterback.

Brian Flores runs Minnesota’s defense after leading Miami as its coach for three years earlier in his career.

Bayless posted his take on X. His message came after Baltimore ended its nearly two-decade partnership with Harbaugh.

“Brian Flores makes the most sense for Lamar Jackson,” Bayless tweeted on Wednesday.

Baltimore wants a coach who can spark something different in Jackson, according to NFL Media. The organization hopes to find someone capable of getting more out of the dual-threat quarterback after concerns surfaced about his focus during the season.

Lamar Jackson has won just three of eight career playoff games despite capturing two MVP trophies. His playoff totals show 13 touchdowns but also 11 turnovers.

No other quarterback with multiple MVPs has posted a losing playoff mark. Every other two-time winner has also claimed at least one championship ring, leaving Jackson as the lone exception.

Brian Flores built one of the league’s top defenses over three years with the Vikings. His unit shut down Detroit’s offense while creating six takeaways in a primetime Week 17 clash. It also held Green Bay’s backups to a field goal in the finale.

Baltimore watched its defense sink from a top 10 ranking in 2024 down to 24th this season. Opposing offenses gained over 30 additional yards per game against the Ravens compared to the previous campaign.

Flores turned down an extension offer from Minnesota before this season and will hit the open market.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes called Baltimore’s opening the best available position after the John Harbaugh news broke. She specifically mentioned Flores as someone the Ravens should strongly pursue for the role.
