Anthony Kim’s attempt to return to LIV Golf took a step forward after he made it through to the final two rounds of the LIV Golf Promotions Event. The American is now in contention for a place on the league’s 2026 roster.
Kim is among the 22 players who made the cut at Black Diamond Ranch. They will now compete over 36 holes for three available LIV Golf spots. The top 10 finishers will also earn full status on the Asian Tour’s International Series.
22 players have made it through to the final 2 rounds of the LIV Golf Promotions Event: Anthony Kim 🇺🇸 Matt Jones 🇦🇺 Travis Smyth 🇦🇺 Lucas Bjerregard 🇩🇰 Max Kennedy 🇮🇪 Joe Pagdin 🏴 Miguel Tabuena 🇵🇭 Jeunghun Wang 🇰🇷 Richard T Lee 🇨🇦 Jazz Janewattananond 🇹🇭 Oliver Bekker 🇿🇦
Kim’s place in the field was decided late in the round. After a difficult second day, he needed a birdie on the final hole to make the cut. He had earlier made a bogey on the long par-3 17th, which meant he had no room for mistakes. Kim then hit a strong tee shot, followed by a solid approach that left him with an eight-foot putt. He made the birdie, keeping his chances of a LIV return alive for at least two more days.
Speaking after the round Anthony Kim admitted it was not an easy day.
“Today was a rough day. Didn’t get off to a great start. But after I made bogey on 17, I knew I needed to make birdie on 18. Gave myself a chance and felt good over the putt, and fortunately it fell,” he said. (via LIV Golf)
Kim added that he stayed calm despite the pressure.
“I felt really good; I felt really calm. Whether it went in or not, I just wanted to give myself the best chance, go through my pre-shot routine. I’ve been putting in a lot of time … I’ve been very focused, especially on my putting. It felt good to get over it and make one.”
Anthony Kim, who was relegated from LIV Golf at the end of the 2025 season, shot a 1-under 69 in the second round. He finished the day tied for 16th at 1-under for the tournament.
