Brooks Koepka has exited from the LIV Golf ahead of the start of the new season, leaving a spot vacant in his Smash GC team. The Saudi league has 13 teams with four players in each.
With Koepka’s exit, his teammate Talor Gooch became the new team captain. Gooch opened up Koepka and his new role in the team.
“I want to start by thanking Brooks,” Gooch said (via Today’s Golfer). “He is one of the greatest competitors in the game and I have learned so much from him while being his teammate on Smash GC. He’s a friend and teammate, and I have great respect for his decision. I wish him, Jena, and their family all the best.”
However, there is still one spot left, and fans are interested in knowing who could join Smash GC in 2026. Players from other teams can replace Koepka in the Smash GC, while LIV Golf has also reportedly signed two more players who can join the team.
Below are the three golfers who could join Smash GC.
3 golfers who could replace Brooks Koepka at LIV Golf’s Smash GC
#1 Harold Varner III

Harold Varner III has enjoyed a decent time on the LIV Golf in 2025 and wrapped up the season settled in 22nd place in season standings. He played for Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces GC team, and reportedly, he might join Smash GC. He played in 2023 for the RangeGoats GC and then joined the 4Aces GC in 2024 and played two seasons for them. He could play for a new team in 2026.
#2 Thomas Detry

As reported by the golf analyst Tom Kershaw, Thomas Detry has signed a deal with LIV Golf for the 2026 season. As the new member, he could also join Brooks Koepka’s former team, Smash GC. However, if Harold Varner III joins the Smash GC, then Detry might play for 4 Aces GC.
Meanwhile, in the last season on the DP World Tour, the Belgian golfer had some notable finishes, such as T7 at the Genesis Championship, T12 at the Amegn Irish Open, and T23 at the US Open. It would be interesting to see which team he could join in LIV Golf in 2026.
#3 Elvis Smylie

Another golfer who could join Brooks Koepka’s former Smash GC is Elvis Smylie. He is also reportedly signing with LIV Golf, per Tom Kershaw.
Smylie enjoyed a good time playing on the DP World Tour in 2025. He won the 2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship and also recorded some other amazing finishes, such as T14 at the 2024 Nedbank Golf Challenge, T15 at the 2025 Volvo China Open, T16 at the 2025 Hainan Classic, and T6 at the 2025 Danish Golf Championship.
