The New York Giants didn’t waste time and offered John Harbaugh a contract in his first head-coaching interview after the Baltimore Ravens fired him. The team and the coach are still working through details to make it official, but multiple reports indicate it is a matter of time.
Meanwhile, everybody has expressed their opinion on the hiring. Stephen A. Smith has multiple reasons to question Harbaugh’s arrival in New York following a disappointing 2025 season. Others, however, are ecstatic to see the “Big Blue” acquire one of the top candidates in this hiring cycle.
LA Rams legend Torry Holt joined Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams” show on Thursday. Holt celebrated the Giants bringing a coach who would change the culture instantly.
“A sound mind coming into your building, a winner, a leader,” Holt said. “A guy who establishes processes and procedures and sticks to it. That’s what the New York Giants need. They gotta allow him the time to achieve those things. I believe that they do, you’ll see success there in New York.

“He still wants to coach football and I think those players on the Giants have looked at his body of work from afar, watching him in Baltimore, so there’ll be instant respect once he comes into that room, and he’s gonna demand a high level of football from the New York Giants.”
Stephen A. Smith brings up major issue involving John Harbaugh
During a recent episode of his eponymous show, Stephen A. Smith highlighted major issues with the former Ravens coach. Specifically, he mentioned how bad things were during his final year in Baltimore.
“I’m not here to tell you it is a bad hire, because I don’t believe it’s a bad hire,” Smith said.” I believe that John Harbaugh can coach. …My issue with John Harbaugh and all this being said is that, are we just going to ignore how things ended in Baltimore?”
The Giants offer Harbaugh a new chance to start, with a team full of talented young players.
