Seattle dominated the San Francisco 49ers 41-6 in the NFC divisional round on Saturday, marking ts first NFC title game appearance since 2014. The Seahawks got an early lead when Rashid Shaheed returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

Running back Kenneth Walker III scored three rushing touchdowns. Seattle’s defense forced multiple turnovers while holding San Francisco scoreless in the second half.

Darnold, who was designated as questionable due to an oblique injury, completed 12 of 17 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown. He earned his first career playoff win with the team before he was replaced late in the game.

Seattle is one win away from its first Super Bowl appearance since 2013.

Russell Wilson’s benching comes back into focus as Broncos turn to Jarrett Stidham

The Broncos are heading to the AFC championship game without the quarterback who led them there, reviving questions tied to their post-Russell Wilson direction.

Bo Nix was ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured bone in his right ankle. The annoucement was made after Denver’s 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Broncos coach Sean Payton shared the news in a second postgame press conference.

“Not good news,” Payton said. “On the second-to-last play in overtime, Bo fractured a bone in his right ankle. He’s scheduled to have surgery Tuesday, which will put him out for the rest of the season.”

Nix delivered a breakthrough performance, completing 26 of 46 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns.

Denver will rely on Jarrett Stidham, the quarterback Payton once chose over Russell Wilson late in the 2023 season. Payton insisted at the time that the move was about winning.

“We’re desperately trying to win,” Payton said. “The No. 1 push behind this is to get a spark offensively.”

Payton doubled down after Saturday’s game.

“Stidy’s ready to go,” Payton said. “We’ll rise up for the next challenge.”

With a Super Bowl berth at stake, Payton’s long-standing faith in Stidham will likely define the Broncos’ post-Wilson era.
