Blades Brown would become the second youngest winner in PGA Tour history should he emerge victorious at The American Express on Sunday.
The 18-year-old goes into the final round at La Quinta one shot off the lead.
How many PGA Tour events and majors will Blades Brown go on to win in his career?
He’s a seriously special talent…
He will play alongside Si-woo Kim and Scottie Scheffler in the last group.
How the world looked when Blades Brown was born in May 2007
It is frightening to think that Blades Brown was born in May 2007.
That month saw Tony Blair announce his resignation as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Rihanna was about to spend the summer at the top of the charts with Umbrella.
If that did not make you feel incredibly old, then perhaps it is worth noting that Tiger Woods had already won 12 of his 15 major titles.
The final PGA Tour event played before Brown was born was the 2007 AT&T Classic.
It would be won by a player who is also in the field this week at The American Express.
The player in The American Express field who won on the PGA Tour just before Brown was born
Brown is making many of the headlines this week. Meanwhile, Zach Johnson is at the other end of his PGA Tour career, with the two-time major champion turning 50 next month.
Johnson finished tied for 61st at the Sony Open in Hawaii last week. And he was in exactly the same position with one round to go at The American Express.
The 2023 US Ryder Cup captain secured his third PGA Tour win at the AT&T Classic nearly 19 years ago – the week before Brown was born.
Johnson defeated Ryuji Imada in a playoff.

Meanwhile, Matt Kuchar and Camilo Villegas were among the players who finished tied for third. Both men played in California this week, with Kuchar starting Sunday alongside Johnson at 11 under par.
Remarkably, the win meant that all three of Johnson’s victories on the PGA Tour up until then had come in the state of Georgia.
He had won the same event back in 2004, while the most famous triumph of his career came the month before Brown was born as he clinched The Masters.
There are likely to be many fans who would now not be at all surprised to see Brown join Johnson in the Champions Locker Room at Augusta National at some stage in the future.
