Our writers pick the Farmers Insurance Open winner

The Golfing Gazette experts have made their predictions for the winner of the Farmers Insurance Open this week.

James Shearman: Ryan Gerard has finished second in his last three starts (Mauritius Open, Sony Open, and American Express), climbing to 24th in the world rankings. With Scottie Scheffler not in the field, there is nobody in better form than Gerard to stop him from winning at Torrey Pines.

Jordan Harris: Wyndham Clark made a bright start to his season at The American Express and has the distance to shine around Torrey Pines.

Charlie Walker: It was a really promising start to 2026 for Max Homa, who looks to be rounding back to his best form. He could remind people just how good he is with a win at Torrey Pines.

Antony Martin: I’m backing Jason Day to reign supreme at the Farmers Insurance Open this week. He has won twice at Torrey Pines in 16 appearances and has five top-5 finishes to his name. Day is a master on golf courses with Kikuyu grass, and his game is trending heading into this one.
