Cam Young is a huge fan of Scottie Scheffler and specifically, the way he goes about his business out on the golf course.
It’s incredible to think that Scheffler is just one year older than Young, given everything that the world number one has already achieved in the game.
Scheffler is the dominant figure in world golf right now and Young will be aspiring to match the standards set by the man from Dallas, Texas.
It’s fair to say that Cam Young is on an impressive trajectory himself, and is very highly-rated amongst his fellow PGA Tour pros.
How many times do you think Scottie Scheffler will win in 2026?
Over or under 4.5…
However, he still has a long way to go before he can be realistically compared with Scheffler.

Cam Young has a theory over why Scottie Scheffler is so good
The 28-year-old American Ryder Cup star has elevated his game beyond all comprehension over the past six months.
However, he is still very much in awe of the current world number one’s ability to produce the goods almost every single time he plays.
Young highlighted what he believes makes Scheffler so special, when speaking on the Smylie Show.
“I think Scottie Scheffler has something special about the mental side of the game,“ Young stated.
“Obviously physically as well, but, you know, I feel like you can’t perform at that level and execute that highly, no matter what your skill level, unless you are kind of special between the ears.
“So, you know, he’s someone that I watch, and that’s all it seems like he does to me.
“I don’t feel like he’s ever trying to do anything special. I don’t feel like he’s really ever trying to force anything. I just see him step up and try to make a good swing all the time.
How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?
The world number one already has four majors under his belt
“But he seems to do that better than just about anybody to me. And I’m sure that that is a contributing factor to the reason he executes on such a regular basis.“
The one-time PGA Tour winner is spot on with his verdict on Scheffler there.
His uncanny knack for repeating his process every single time without deviating from his routine is a special talent.
And having the mental strength to treat each shot with exactly the same level of importance is equally impressive
Young’s willingness to learn from the best player in the world will stand him in very good stead moving forward.
Cam Young vs Scottie Scheffler: PGA Tour records compared
It’s unfair to compare Young with Scheffler right now.
The 28-year-old is simply not on the same level as the Texan.
For context, here are their career PGA Tour records compared alongside each other.
| Results | Scheffler | Young |
| Events played | 151 | 98 |
| Major wins | 4 | 0 |
| PGA Tour wins | 20 | 1 |
| Top-5s | 57 | 15 |
| Top-10s | 77 | 26 |
| Missed cuts | 19 | 21 |
The thing is, Young has the talent needed to go on and win multiple majors and 20 or more PGA Tour tournaments.
However, if he is to reach that next level, he has admitted himself that the mental side of his game could be better.
It will be interesting to watch Young in action this season to see whether he makes any further improvements in his game and is able to add more wins to his résumé.

“Your head can get in the way. It’s a powerful thing.
