Scottie Scheffler and his caddie, Ted Scott, are quite clearly a match made in heaven.
Both God-fearing men who have deep belief and trust in their faith, Scheffler and Scott have forged an incredible relationship over the past four years.
The world number one has gone from strength to strength after he first had Scott on the bag at the RSM Classic in 2021.
Scheffler is now undeniably the most dominant player not only on the PGA Tour, but across the entire professional golfing landscape.
How many times do you think Scottie Scheffler will win in 2026?
Over or under 4.5…
Over the past few years, Scheffler has been consistently great with Scott on his bag and there were signs last week at the American Express that he could be set for a spectacular 2026.
The man from Dallas, Texas, won the event at a canter and if truth be known, he didn’t even have his ‘A’ game.
Ted Scott has noticed something different about Scottie Scheffler
There aren’t many people who know Scheffler better than Ted Scott.
He is unequivocally one of the best caddies on the planet so it stands to reason that he is on the bag of the best player in the world.
Scott spoke to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio about what he believes makes Scheffler so good.
“Great players don’t like giving up, you know, anything.
“I mean, I think that’s one of the things that that I’ve just never had in me, you know, like, I always say if Scottie Scheffler was playing a nine-year old-girl in ping pong, he would want to beat her 21-0.
“And then he would apologise afterwards, but while it was going on, he would have no mercy.
“That’s certainly just the feeling that you get when you compete against him in anything.
“When I first started working for him, he was 19th in the world and he had a white golf bag. You know, no logos on it.
“He just doesn’t chase records, money, fame. The guy just loves to compete. And because he loves to compete, you know, he wants to be in the mix, he’s super dedicated to preparing for the test.
How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?
The world number one already has four majors under his belt
“This off-season, I think they worked real hard on his body and it’s probably the best I’ve seen him look as far as setup.
“You know, like sometimes over the course of the year, swinging one direction, practising a lot, you start to get out of alignment.
“But, you know, watching him on the range, warming up every day. I mean, everything just looks so parallel and symmetrical and, you know, he told me he had a really good off season.
“So, yeah, you know, it’s fun to watch somebody so driven to just put himself in contention and just to see how hard he works and to get the reward is really neat.“
The early signs are pointing towards Scheffler enjoying a dominant season on the PGA Tour once again in 2026.
He has absolutely everything needed to achieve true greatness in the game of golf.
Scottie Scheffler’s world-class mentality is the key to his success
And as Scott highlighted, the 29-year-old’s sheer drive and will to win is probably his most important asset.
There is another key facet to Scheffler’s remarkable run of form over the past four years.
He has won 20 PGA Tour events, including four major championships, since February 2022 and he would not have been able to do that without the ability to compartmentalize his golfing life and his family life.
They are completely separate entities to him, while other golfers sometimes allow the professional side of things to merge into their personal lives.
Scheffler is arguably the most competitive player in professional golf yet, once he leaves the course, he completely forgets about the round he has just played, good or bad.
The 29-year-old is then able to focus on the most important thing in his life – his family.
The ability to separate that with his burning desire to win every time he plays golf is genuinely very impressive.
