Declan Doyle has come forward to reveal his plans to utilize Lamar Jackson. During an appearance on Ari Meriov’s podcast, he highlighted the importance of building an offense suitable for their quarterback.
Doyle also said that they plan on restructuring the offense according to Lamar Jackson’s needs. He plans on utilizing his experience helping develop Caleb Williams during his stint as the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears.
“You try to shape the offense around the player,” Doyle said on Saturday. “We try to really give him a lot initially to see what he can handle, and from there it’s our job to shape it so he has success. So, kind of narrowing in on what are we good at, what we want to be doing here. What do we not want to mess with that might have been good with a different quarterback that may not fit with our guy quite as well.
“That’s the biggest thing. Constantly evaluating and constantly watching the tape. Are going to be able to perform at a championship standard running this play or this concept. … That’s the biggest thing, making sure you’re paying attention to it and shaping around them.”

Declan Doyle spent the 2025 season as the offensive coordinator of the Bears. However, coach Ben Johnson took the lead in play-calling duties on the field. They qualified for the playoffs as the NFC North champions, but lost to the Rams in a divisional showdown.
Lamar Jackson, on the other hand, had a roller coaster campaign with the Ravens. The $260 million quarterback suffered multiple injuries that resulted in him missing four games for his team. The quarterback recorded 2,549 yards and 21 TDs passing.
However, the Ravens failed to make the postseason after an 8-9 record. They decided to fire former OC Todd Monken after three seasons, as he has moved on to take over as the coach of the Cleveland Browns.Ravens HC Jesse Minter shares his thoughts on Lamar Jackson
Apart from bringing in Declan Doyle, the Ravens also parted ways with coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons. Jesse Minter took over as his replacement after two years as the defensive coordinator of the Chargers.
On Thursday, on the “Pat McAfee” show, Minter shared his unfiltered thoughts about leading Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense.
“First of all, you know, being the head coach of the team that has the best player in the National Football League is pretty exciting,” Minter said. “Like you said, these jobs with this caliber of quarterback don’t often turn over. And so when it came open, you know, the respect and love I have for Lamar.
“You got the best player in the world behind center. You got a group of young guys on offense that have elite talent and elite playmaking skills. And look forward to building an offense and building at team around Lamar Jackson.”
The Ravens drafted Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. In eight seasons, he has made six playoff appearances while recording 22,608 yards and 187 TDs passing.
