Bryson DeChambeau appears to be determined to leave everyone guessing about what his long-term future holds after questioning LIV Golf ahead of the new season.
For much of LIV Golf‘s first few years in existence, it was incredibly rare for a single player to be at all critical about the league. The positivity was so overwhelming that it became difficult to tell how much of it was genuine.
Is Patrick Reed leaving the end of LIV Golf?
First Brooks, now Reed…who will be next?
But things have changed in more recent times. Obviously, Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have decided to leave LIV. And Bryson DeChambeau has provided few assurances about his own future with the league.
PGA Tour player reacts to Bryson DeChambeau questioning LIV Golf
DeChambeau previously expressed his desire to sign a new contract. However, his stance appears to have changed since Koepka’s departure.
His contract expires at the end of this coming season. And DeChambeau has now questioned LIV’s decision to change to 72-hole events – having praised the move when it was initially announced.
It could be an alarming sign for LIV. Taking to social media to react to the comments, Michael Kim suggested that DeChambeau is exerting his power in negotiations.
Bryson DeChambeau may be hoping to push LIV into a corner
Clearly, DeChambeau has been slightly dishonest at some stage. There has been no evidence that 72-hole events will not improve LIV. And yet, he has completely changed his stance in just under three months.
Perhaps he feels more willing to be honest about his true feelings after seeing Koepka depart. A pathway back to the PGA Tour appears to be available to him, even if he does not make use of the Returning Member Program.
What’s the biggest reason you don’t watch LIV Golf?
But it does seem more than likely that DeChambeau is making the most of his leverage.
DeChambeau reportedly wants $500 million to stay with LIV. And if he gives off the impression that he is not entirely happy with the league, LIV may then have little choice but to meet those demands.
Some clearly think that DeChambeau knows exactly what he is doing with his surprise comments.

the presentation is absolutely awful in my opinion. The commentary team, and the players, need to spend less time going on about how amazing LIV is
